In remembrance
Remembering Mike
1972–2026
Mike believed in what digital video could make possible.
For Mike Kiefer, digital video was more than a technology. It was a way to connect people with stories, ideas, and one another. His love for the medium came with a lasting belief in a better media future, where great video could be more accessible, more expressive, and open to more people.
His important contributions to DivX were a meaningful part of that vision and remain part of his legacy in digital video. We remember the care, curiosity, and conviction he brought to his work, and his belief that media could keep getting better.
Beyond the work, we hold close the laughter, the conversations, and the everyday moments that became lasting memories. As we gather to remember Mike, we celebrate both the future he imagined and the friendships he made along the way.
